Shopping with Rachel Roy and Fairwinds Trading

Honestly It doesn’t matter how much money you have or how big your closet it. There are not many times where you can experience true happiness than while  giving back.

As all of you know each month I show some of my favorite things from the designer of the month. Looking through this month’s designer, Rachel Roy, I came across here charity section.  One charity that got my attention was Fairwinds Trading.

“Fairwinds Trading is a for-profit company that uses business as a strategy for economic empowerment of people, especially women, in the Majority World. The Majority World is where two billion of the world’s three billion people live, in poverty.”

Yes, giving clothing and food to the people who need it the most helps, but there is no better gift than the gift of knowledge. Giving women a skill and a way to create their own business not only empowers them but also gives them the opportunity to take care of their family when they need it the most.

Rachel Roy in partnership with Fairwinds Trading created the Rachel Rachel Roy Fairwinds collection. The collection features a clutch handmade in Tanzania and shredded paper bracelet and bead earrings from Rwanda, all crafted by  artisans from this program.
