This past Wednesday Magen and I had the privilege to attend the Alberta Ferretti Spring/ Summer 2012 fashion show at tootsies. This is the first time she has EVER shown her collection outside of Milan, and well her being the icon that she is not only in the Italian fashion industry but in the fashion world in general, it was a true honor to be there.
The collection was a mixture of the 1930s silhouettes with safari touches. (See full collection here) At the end of the show Hal Rubenstein, Fashion Director of InStyle magazine, conducted a Q&A with Ferretti (What a treat!!!) During the Q&A Ferretti explained that the inspiration for her S/S 2012 collections was her love for South Africa.
“This S/S 2012 collection represents my vision of modern minimalism. I began with the linear form and with the fluidity of silhouettes and then molded the simplicity with innovative cuts, inlays, embroidery and the juxtaposition of fabrics. I layered the savage sensuality of exotic prints to this pure canvas, adding graphic and metropolitan prints, to best represent my idea of sophisticated femininity”
At the end of the Q&A Magen and I had the chance to congratulate her and take a quick pictures. Unfortunately two people were taking picture of us, one with my little camera and another gentlemen was taking professional photos. I wish I know who took the professional photos because mine look awful! But honestly just the fact that I had the chance to meet her and speak to her, the bad picture was worth it!
